Our Philosophy Statement

Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua

Care for the land, care for the people, go forward

Whakamana

We empower learners to reach their highest potential by ensuring that tamaiti:

  • are at the centre of all we do

  • are supported to unfold naturally

  • learn through unhurried, uninterrupted and open ended play

  • have their urges recognised, and provided for

Manaakitanga

We create a welcoming, caring and creative learning environment that:

  • has daily rituals and rhythms that support tamariki

  • utilises our natural environment

  • promotes the environment as the third kaiako

  • reflects that we are a home away from home

  • promotes sustainability

Whanaungatanga

We engage in positive and collaborative relationships with our learners, their families and whānau, our colleagues and the wider community by:

  • intentionally developing and maintaining strong, caring and respectful relationships

  • using key kaiako to deepen connections and attachments with tamariki and whānau to build a sense of belonging

  • drawing from the knowledge and skills in our community
